Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it, say so on the article, and log it here.

Our policy

Accuracy is the product. When a factual error is identified in our reporting, we correct it promptly and add a dated correction note at the end of the article that states what was wrong and what is now correct. We do not silently change facts.

  • Corrections fix factual errors: a wrong figure, name, date or attribution.
  • Clarifications add context when something was accurate but could mislead.
  • Updates add new information as a story develops, with the update date shown at the top.

Spelling and formatting fixes that do not change meaning are made without a note.
